Is a heat pump right for your home?
Most UK homes can be suitable for a heat pump, but the right choice depends on your specific property. A proper survey is the only reliable way to know for certain, and it is the first real step we take together.
Check my homeProperty type
Detached, semi-detached, terraced and flats can all be suitable, though the approach differs for each.
Insulation
Well-insulated homes generally get the most from a heat pump, but older properties can often be adapted.
Heat demand
How much heat your home loses on a cold day affects the size and type of system that makes sense.
Existing heating system
Whether you currently have radiators, underfloor heating or a boiler affects how a heat pump integrates.
Outdoor space
Most systems need a suitable spot outside for the unit, with room for airflow and access for servicing.
Hot water needs
Your household hot-water demand influences cylinder size and system design.
Radiators & emitters
Some rooms may benefit from larger radiators or underfloor heating to work efficiently with a heat pump.
Electrical supply
We check that your electrical supply and consumer unit can support the new equipment.
Design-first approach

We don't simply sell you a heat pump. We help design the right system for your property, so it delivers reliable comfort and sensible running costs.

Grants & funding
Could you be eligible for a heat pump grant?
Eligible homeowners may be able to access government support towards a qualifying heat pump installation. Support levels and eligibility depend on the scheme, your property and the type of system installed, and can change over time.
We can help you understand current scheme requirements and what information is needed, but eligibility is never guaranteed and should always be confirmed with the relevant scheme administrator before work begins.
Check your eligibilityCost & quotes
How much does installation cost?
Every property is different, so we don't offer a generic price list. Instead, we provide a clear, property-specific quote once we understand your home.
Request a property-specific quoteCost can depend on:
- Property size and heat demand
- Type and size of heat pump required
- Condition of your existing heating system
- Whether radiators or emitters need upgrading
- Hot-water cylinder requirements

Useful answers
Questions homeowners often ask
What is an air source heat pump?
An air source heat pump is a low-carbon heating system that absorbs heat from the outside air and uses it to heat your home and hot water, instead of burning gas or oil.
Is my home suitable for a heat pump?
Suitability depends on factors such as insulation, heat loss, available outdoor space, your current heating system and hot-water needs. A proper survey is the best way to find out, and we can carry this out for your property.
How much does installation cost?
Cost depends on your property size, heat demand, the system chosen, whether radiators need upgrading, hot-water requirements and any electrical work involved. We provide a clear, property-specific quote after a survey rather than a generic price.
How long does installation take?
Installation time varies by property and system complexity. We will give you a realistic timeframe as part of your proposal.
Can I replace my gas boiler with a heat pump?
Many homes currently heated by a gas or oil boiler can move to a heat pump. We assess your existing system and property during the survey to confirm whether this is a good option for you.
Can heat pumps work with my existing radiators?
Often, yes. Some rooms may benefit from larger radiators or underfloor heating to get the most from the system, which we would identify during the survey.
Can I get a government grant?
Grant schemes and eligibility criteria change and depend on your circumstances. We can help you understand current requirements, but eligibility should always be confirmed with the relevant scheme before work begins.
What is the difference between air-to-air and air-to-water?
Air-to-water systems feed radiators, underfloor heating and a hot-water cylinder. Air-to-air systems deliver warm or cool air directly into rooms through indoor units and do not provide hot water on their own.
How noisy is a heat pump?
Modern heat pumps are designed to run quietly. Correct sizing and outdoor unit positioning, which we consider during the survey, also help minimise noise.
How much maintenance does a heat pump need?
Heat pumps generally need less maintenance than a boiler, but a periodic service helps keep the system running efficiently. We offer servicing and maintenance support.
Can Love Green assess my property?
Yes. We can arrange a home survey to assess suitability and design a system for your specific property.
Do you provide a quote?
Yes. After a survey, we provide a clear, property-specific quote. You can also get an instant online estimate using our Quick Quote tool.
